The Cebu Paranormal Society's mission is to provide assistance, confirmation and solutions for individuals experiencing paranormal events by developing verifiable methods of communication and validation of paranormal events.
Paranormal investigations follow two basic directions. One direction is based on the methods derived historically from the Spiritualist movement of 19th and early 20th centuries and involve the use of psychics, Ouija boards and séances. Many groups and individuals have found validation through this method, although scientists and skeptics have been critical of this path due to its lack of accountability, verification and replication. The second path is based more closely on a scientific approach utilizing tools to record events and environmental variables. This path has more recent origins and is gaining more popularity as technological tools are becoming more readily available. This path has found criticism from more traditional groups because it does not take into account the perceptions of sensitives or mediums.
The Cebu Paranormal Society investigates the paranormal utilizing a scientific path. We use video and audio recorders to document paranormal events along with data logging equipment to record environmental variables. We do not employ psychics as a resource, although we will leverage personal sensations and experiences as a guide. Whether the instrument is human or technological, we have determined that any evidence requires validation from a minimum of two sources. Whether from human senses or a recording from an audio recorder, there needs to be at least two pieces of evidence to validate a paranormal experience. By doing so, we improve the credibility of our evidence, albeit at the risk of eliminating some potentially valid events. This path gives the Cebu Paranormal Society a better opportunity to provide a more positive degree of validation and evidence. And, hopefully, this can provide greater insight into what is causing events to occur.
